The laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. Previous Eufy devices have built up a rough map of your home utilizing infrared sensors and bumping into things, but the X8's laser mapping system is far more precise. It also takes significantly less time to build up a comprehensive picture of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It can easily sling debris under the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. The X8's tyres, despite their circular shape, robot vacuum and Mop are good at grabbing corners and edges. It's not the best cat litter scooper, however, with our tests showing it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that are not serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it uses. The controls are simpler than the competition's. There's a clean button on the top and you can start it by using the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, set up no-go zones and view its history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. It uses this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from carpets and hard floors and the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate around furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It will also return to the base station for simple charging between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as impressive as those of other robot vacuums. However, it is an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
