1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is a fantastic option for a wide range of households. It has a great navigation system that includes GPS and laser sensors. It also has many features and vacuum Cleaner with mopping controls accessible via the app. It has a handy feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require additional attention, and also to create Keep Out zones in areas that you do not want it to go. It also receives software updates, like the other Roomba products, which improve the quality of the product over time.

It's expensive, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can sweep all of your home in less than two hours. It also switches between vacuuming and mopping at the push of one button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically emptys into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It comes with a variety of other features that make it an excellent option for most homes, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses both a camera and processor-powered smarts to see obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it isn't as effective in detecting pet waste and other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Eufy is owned by Anker is now an established brand in the world of budget robot vacuums. However, it didn't provide an option to mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of modern features and is able to compete with more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's the X8 is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects but the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It takes less time to build an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It is able to effortlessly sling debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very adept at grabbing edges and corners. Our tests revealed that it was able to remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. While this is good for loose spills however, you aren't able to limit the amount of water it uses and this will reduce its effectiveness on more serious staining. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, beautiful design and great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the top smart robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system which uses LIDAR to map a room as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras for detecting and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped and assigned, you can assign virtual no-go zones and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also alter the cleaning modes, start cleaning manually, or view live feeds of the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are outstanding, effectively removing surface litter from carpets of medium pile as well as embedded dust on bare floors. But it's not the most flexible robot available. Like many others it's not a great climber and has issues with things like metal threshold transition strips.

4. Shark ION

This round, budget robot looks like your typical robot but it's an upgrade in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It can even identify common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum cleaner with mopping off steps makes it one our most flexible vacuums.

It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigational skills were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors beat out the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than those of the competition's. There's a clean button on the top and you can start it using the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, set up no-go zones and view its history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a sophisticated dark gray plastic that is both attractive and beautiful in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easy to empty and removing the filter is the same.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking to buy a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a low price, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It isn't equipped with some of the advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in more expensive models, however, if you don't require these features, you can save money with this model.

This robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does include an remote control that lets you choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. You can also set up a manual schedule to assign the robotvac to a cleaning schedule.

In our tests, the 11S was very effective at getting rid of pet hair and dirt from hard floors and in carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to fit under furniture with low hanging and her response other items that heavier robots were unable to get at. It was able to pass effortlessly over door thresholds and move from one floor type to another.

The 11S, as with other robots will also suckup some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can stop this by keeping such objects off the floor and using a cord organizer if possible. It also suggests that you clean the dustbin, replace the filters, and clean or change the brushes as necessary.

iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's top-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigating features and environmental mapping are truly a marvel to behold. It has more advanced automation than its competitors, such as the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile application. It's a powerful robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when it comes across cables.

We love the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will then use that information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than the majority of high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors as well as a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate between furniture and around edges, and Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down stairs. It can also return automatically to the base station for simple recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as good as those of some other robot vacuums, it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors clean for hours at a time.
